The Archdiocese of Suva Communications Office is the primary point of contact for all local, regional, and international media organizations. We are committed to providing timely, accurate, and transparent information regarding the mission, activities, and official positions of the Catholic Church in Fiji.

All media enquiries, including requests for official statements, interviews with His Grace, Archbishop Peter Loy Chong , or access to Archdiocesan properties for filming, must be directed through this office.

 

How to Submit a Media Request

To ensure a prompt and coordinated response, we ask that all journalists and media representatives submit their requests in writing. Please include the following details in your enquiry:

  • Name and Organization: Your full name and the media outlet you represent.
  • Nature of Enquiry: A brief summary of the topic or the specific questions you wish to have addressed.
  • Deadline: Your publication or broadcast deadline.
  • Request Type: Indicate if you are seeking a written statement, a recorded interview (audio/video), or a live appearance.

Interview Requests for His Grace, the Archbishop

Requests for interviews with the Archbishop of Suva are managed strictly through the Communications Office in coordination with the Archbishop’s Chancery. 

  • Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice for non-urgent interview requests.
  • For urgent reactions to breaking news, please mark your email subject line as “URGENT: Media Request” .

 

Filming and Photography on Church Property

The Archdiocese of Suva welcomes the documentation of our beautiful heritage sites and liturgical celebrations. However, to maintain the sanctity of our sacred spaces and ensure the privacy of our parishioners, the following rules apply:

  • Permission Required: Written permission must be obtained at least three working days in advance for any professional filming or photography inside the Sacred Heart Cathedral or on any parish grounds.
  • Safeguarding: All media personnel must comply with the Archdiocesan Safeguarding Policy when children or vulnerable adults are present.
  • Liturgical Sensitivity: Filming during a live Mass or religious service is generally restricted to designated areas to avoid distracting the congregation.
